Organization
The HIV-Nordic board is represented by two members of the five nordic Hiv-organisations. Representatives gather two to three times a year with the main purpose of upholding awareness around the development on human rights issues for PLHIV in the Nordic region.
Criminalization on PLHIV has been a key aspect of our work, as it has deep impact and influence on a personal level for PLHIV. Criminalization also affects healthcare, treatment and prevention strategies in the Nordic countries in a complex way. It is essential for HIV-Nordic that PLHIV are to be involved in decisions taken by authorities. Meaningful Involvement of People Living with or affected by HIV/Aids (MIPA), is a political statement that governments around the world, should be obliged to follow.
Our concerns also follow aspects around sexual health for people living with HIV/Aids, intravenous drug users and needle exchange programs, asylum seekers and undocumented immigrants, epidemiology, travel and residence restrictions, treatment and medical issues, communicable disease acts, prevention and wider European and global issues.
Stemming from our meetings and discussions HIV-Nordic and its member organizations work to change issues that are abusing the human rights for people living with HIV/Aids. The outcome of our meetings is set to be co-operating with authorities and organizations that have similar aims, and by influencing authorities, members of the parliaments and the governments so that laws and regulations shall improve life conditions for HIV-positive people and so that respective country and its laws comply with different international conventions and recommendations.
All member organizations engage in different psychosocial support to their respective members. They also engage in combating discrimination and attitudes, working for the rights of HIV-positive persons and raise awareness about HIV-positive persons in society. As a side effect, The HIV-Nordic board aims to develop and retain the education and knowledge of its members to grow stronger in supporting the network based in home countries.
HIV-Nordic has participated actively in the World Aids Conferences in Toronto (2009), Mexico City (2010), Vienna (2011), with a booth at the Global Village. HIV-Nordic was also present at the World AIDS Conference in Washington 2012 and will have boardmembers representing Hiv-Nordic in Melbourne 2014. HIV-Nordic is a member of the EU HIV/AIDS Civil Society Forum.

Hiv-Nordens styrelse styrelsen representeras av två medlemmar av de fem nordiska Hiv-organisationer. Representanterna samlas två till tre gånger per år med det huvudsakliga syftet att upprätthålla medvetenheten kring utvecklingen i frågor gällandemänskliga rättigheter för hivpositiva i Norden. .
Kriminalisering av hivpositiva har varit en viktig del av vårt arbete, eftersom det har djupa påverkan och inflytande på ett personligt plan för hivbärare. Kriminalisering påverkar också vård, behandling och förebyggande strategier i Norden på ett komplext sätt. Det är viktigt för HIV-Nordic som att vara delaktiga i beslut som fattas av myndigheter kring hiv och hivpositiva. Meningsfull Medverkan av personer som lever med eller har drabbats av hiv / aids (MIPA), är ett politiskt ställningstagande som regeringar världen över, bör vara skyldiga att följa.
Vår frågor gäller även aspekter kring sexuell hälsa för människor som lever med hiv / aids, sprutnarkomaner och sprututbytesprogram, asylsökande och papperslösa invandrare, epidemiologi, resor och uppehållsrestriktioner, behandling och medicinska frågor, handlingar överförbara sjukdomar, förebyggande och större europeiska och globala frågor.
HIV-Norden och dess medlemsorganisationer arbetar för att förändra problem som påverkar mänskliga rättigheter för personer som lever med hiv / aids. Resultatet av våra möten är inställd på att samarbeta med myndigheter och organisationer som har liknande mål, och genom att påverka myndigheter, medlemmar i parlament och regeringar, så att lagar och regler ska förbättra livsvillkor för hivpositiva och så att respektive land och dess lagar överensstämmer med olika internationella konventioner och rekommendationer.
Alla Hiv-Nordens medlemsföreningar arbetar med psykosocialt stöd till sina medlemmar. Medlemsföreningarna engagerar sig också i kampen mot stigma och diskriminering, hivpositivas rättgheter och informerar om hur det är att leva med hiv.
Hiv-Norden har aktivt deltagit i de internationella aidskonferenserna som varit i Toronto, Mexiko City och Wien där vi haft en monter i "the Global Village". Via enskilda styrelseledamöter har vi även deltagit i den internationella aidskonferensen i Washington 2012 och kommer på samma sätt att delta på konferensen i Melbourne 2014. Hiv-Norden är medlem av EU HIV/AIDS Civil Society Forum.
